2020 in review

Well, 2020 is finally over. As the new year starts it’s time to now usual for lazlobane.net look back on what has happened to Lazlo Bane and it’s members during the last year.

The biggest news is that Lazlo Bane have reunited and recorded two videos with new versions of their songs: “Superman” was released in May celebrating 20 years of it’s release and “1975” followed in November. These were the first new releases of any kind from the band since The Rage album Big Spill in 2013. Lazlo Bane’s facebook page was also relaunched in May to accompany  the release of “Superman” video.

Lazlo Bane debut album, 11 Transistor, was reissued digitally this year and was supported with Chad Fischer’s new solo version of the opening track “I’ll Do Everything”.

The concept of video releases was started by Chad Fischer in April with the solo covers of Joe Walsh “A Life Of Illusion” and Spirit “Nature’s Way”. Since then the new videos were released on a regular basis featuring guest appearances by lots of various musicians and becoming more complex in terms of presentation and editing. At the end of 2020 a total of nine videos were released, including two Lazlo Bane videos mentioned above.

Staying true to the hint in the beginning of 2020 GIVE has released three new singles this year featuring Chris Link: “Feeling Good”, “Standing in the Rain” and “What Makes Us Tick”. It’s unclear now whether the fourth planned single or any other kind of material would follow soon so we can anly look forward for it. Also, the compilation album Live Boston Rock that features GIVE track “How I Fell Tonight” was added to discogs, so now there’s one more place to look for the physical copy of the album.

Kate Davis, with whom Tim Bright currently collaborates a lot, has issued her 2019 album Trophy on vinyl twice: the gold edition was released in February while the purple one followed in July. The video for the song “Daisy” was also released this year and featured an appearance by Tim Bright. Right now we are looking forward for the next Kate Davis album, Strange Boy, which is due to come out in just one week, on February 15 2021.

As for the website itself there were also a few updates. First of all, the new Youtube channel was launched to accompany the website and gather some of the lost Lazlo Bane related videos. Other updates included the expansion of the Related projects section devoted to Tim Bright regarding his work with Paris Hampton, Samsara and Kate Davis and the slight change of the appearance of the website.

As we all say farewell to 2020 have a happy, healthy and productive 2021!
